Climate Action
We commit to supporting the global goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C. That means managing the emissions our own business generates, and scaling the replacement of plastic with lower-footprint alternatives in supply chains that have a much larger impact than ours.
Our footprint
We measure our company-wide carbon footprint every year with ClimatePartner, using the GHG Protocol. For 2024:
- Total: 5.40 t CO₂
- Scope 1 (direct emissions): 0 t - no gas, no company vehicles
- Scope 2 (electricity): 1.40 t
- Scope 3 (travel, commuting, purchased goods and services): 3.99 t
Our company footprint is small. The bigger climate story is the plastic we help remove from the world. Each Smooth Touch razor avoids the equivalent amount of virgin plastic production. We track this through lifecycle assessments on eight products, expanding to our full range by Q1 2027. Our goal is to avoid 200+ tonnes of virgin plastic per year by 2029.
Our targets
By the end of 2026
- Switch to a certified renewable electricity contract with Guarantees of Origin for our Amsterdam office
By Q1 2027
- Complete lifecycle assessments for 100% of active products (currently 8 of approximately 50)
By the end of 2027
- Reduce flight emissions by 25% versus 2024 baseline
- Establish a circular take-back model for Smooth Touch razor blades in the Netherlands
Ongoing
- Annual Corporate Carbon Footprint measurement with ClimatePartner
- Track and report tonnes of virgin plastic avoided per year
- Include supply chain emissions in the 2026 CCF scope
How we work with others on this
Our manufacturing partners are asked about their environmental practices through annual sustainability questionnaires and factory visits. We share product carbon footprints with retail and hospitality partners as part of our sustainability credentials. We participate in the B Corp community's collective climate advocacy.
Resources and responsibilities
Climate action is owned by the founding team and funded from our operating budget.
People: Joshua van den Hurk (Co-Founder) owns the plan and our ClimatePartner relationship. Frank Koch (COO) is responsible for operational targets: electricity, supplier data and carbon footprint inputs. Ainu van den Hurk (Co-Founder) is responsible for communicating our climate performance accurately. Awais Sharif leads circular product design, including the razor blade take-back system.
Technical: ClimatePartner for our annual company footprint and product footprints, the Idemat 2026 database for lifecycle assessments, and our PPWR compliance workbook across 50 active SKUs.
Material: ClimatePartner and lifecycle assessment costs are part of our core operating budget. Where residual emissions cannot yet be reduced, we support certified climate projects through ClimatePartner.
Approval and review
This plan was approved in June 2026 by our Co-Founders, Joshua van den Hurk and Ainu van den Hurk, and our COO, Frank Koch, who together form our highest governing body. We review progress every year in our governing body review and update the full plan at least every 36 months. The next full update is due by June 2029.
